TIG help, carb hat

Post by CJ51973 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 3:57 pm

Anyone want to help me with this. I need this part an inch shorter. Image

It won’t fit under the hood. If I can shorten it it will get me out in the cooler air.

I don’t know how or have the equipment for aluminum welding. Thanks

Patrick does some nice tig work also.

What are you thinking? Cut it at the seam and take 1/2" out of each side? How are you going to keep the round outlet?

The outlet needs to drop too. So the part that rests on the carb needs to com up that inch. I think I’d cut it like you said and work the bottom out with the cut out parts

Had Patrick on a side conversation. He’s got the flu so we will meet after he feels better

On a side note, are you having trouble with it vapor locking?

Sorry, just noticed this was an old post. Trying to get caught up on my reading.
